You can use the model as a paper Christmas star or a snowflake.

I'd never made these paper crafts for Christmas until, a few days ago, my sister sent me a letter, and when I opened the envelope, five little funny-looking squiggly bits of folded paper fell out.

The note read: "...check these out - we've got them up as Christmas window decorations.

They cost nothing, they're fun to make, every single one's a surprise, you just do a new one & it's completely different from the others. I just quickly created this batch for you because your niece has already made a dozen & she's now gone to feed the rabbit."

I unfolded the little paper things and they turned into the Christmas paper stars pictured here.

Beyond Christmas Window  Decorations:
Quick Ideas For Winter Paper Crafts

Apart from utilizing the little paper ornaments for Christmas window decorating ideas, my sister suggested sticking them on:

  • Christmas cards,
  • the backs of envelopes,
  • gift tags (make 'em tiny),
  • giftwrap, or
  • the glass panes of cabinet doors.

Try different papers, too:

  • semi-transparent tissue paper for 'frost flowers' and snowflakes'
  • metallic paper (or foil) for 'stars',
  • newsprint, magazine pages and fancy giftwrap for slightly quirkier Christmas window decorations.

Take this idea further if you want - way  beyond Christmas window  decorating ideas.

  • Turn the ornaments into coasters on the dinner table.
  • Spray them with glitter or paint and add sparklers to reflect the Christmas lights in the room.
  • You could tile the whole Christmas table with them, or ...
  • Create a paper Christmas star 'table runner' (this would also make a nice 'lace edging' around a window, either side of the frame):

The samples my sister sent me are made from paper squares, so it's easy to 'tile' an area with them.

If you would prefer round Christmas window decorations (to make them look more like snowflakes), just start with a round piece of paper rather than a square one.

You can create really chic Christmas window decorations from a combination of round paper-cut ornaments in different sizes.

Or, cut 'miniature' stars/snowflakes and decorate ...

  • a hallway table (cover paper stars with glass or weigh them down in some way),
  • a guest book,
  • a Christmas dinner invitation,
  • a rustic Christmas menu,
  • a place card, or
  • a thank-you note.

I've made you a printable sheet of the paper Christmas star patterns my sister sent me, in case you want to practice a little before creating your own originals.
